Winterfest 2025 Royalty Fundraiser

How it works:
Vote with your Wallet! The nominee with the most money raised will be crowned.
Add money to your candidate’s jar to vote for them!
Cheques can be made out to “Castor Ag Society” or please reach out for other payment options or if you need a receipt.
Voting will close on January 25. Join us at the Lodge for the Coronation Ceremony on Jan 29 at 6pm and celebrate the nominees.
Find voting jars at The Purple Platypus, and Let's Scissor Hair Co., Echo Outdoors, Paintearth Lodge, Castor Library.
All money raised is for Winterfest! It helps to keep Winterfest free and accessible to everyone.

Cake Walk Fundraiser
Join us at the Legion Jan 31 from 4 to 7 (come and go is fine) for a chance to win a cake! Cost is $5 per round

What is a cake walk? Similar to musical chairs but with a cake winner every round.

Cutter Show and Teamster Meet-Up
Are you a teamster with a team of horses you would like to show off? Want a chance to hangout with and learn from fellow teamsters? Please join us at Winterfest!
Feb 1 starting at noon to the west the elevator. We have an area that will work for both wheels and cutters, so bring what you would like!

If you are looking to learn or are a former winterfest teamster you are also welcome!

Public: Welcome to come have a cowboy coffee around the fire and catch a ride on a sleigh starting at noon!
Please park at UFA or the museum to leave the elevator area open for the horses to safely get around.
We will let the Teamsters do one pass first, but then they will be open to giving rides between the elevator and Farmers Market.​

Winter Squash Bench Show
If your squash weren't ready duiring fair in August, this is the place to enter them! Great prizes!
Sections:
1. Best Winter Squash
2. Ugliest Winter Squash
3. Longest Winter Squash
4. Winter Squash Royalty (Style a winter squash into a royal looking figure)

Age Classes
A: Junior: 18 and under
B: Adult: Over 18
C: Age 5 and under (Winter Squash Royalty only)

Entries in sections 1-3 must be grown by the entrant, but Winter Squash Royalty only needs to be crafted by the entrant.

Bring entries to the Legion On Jan 31 from 4-7 pm or Feb 1 from 9-10 am​.
View all the Squash at the Legion on Feb 1 from 11-4:00.
Please pick up entries at 5:30pm.
Chilli Cook Off
Cook your best pot of Chilli and serve it either from your own business location or the Legion.
Blind judging and people's choice as well as random prizes available. PEPS bucks prizes donated by Town of Castor!

Winterfest will provide all serving materials needed.
People's choice ballot drop offs at the Hall and Legion.
Cook-off starts at noon all over town and ususally wraps up by 2. Map coming soon!

Measuring Day
Bring your hunting tropies for measuring or come see all the antlers.
Curling Rink Upstairs starting at 3pm. Bar open!

Snow Sculpture Theme for 2025: Alberta!
Participate in Winterfest and build a snow sculpture to get in the Winterfest mood! Sculpture judging will take place on Feb 1 at noon. Winners announced and ribbons handed out at the Hall at 4:30. If you are off the main drag, please let us know so we do not miss your masterpiece!
Message to book a snow pile drop if you need email or call/text (seven four zero fifty-two-sixty-five). Please book snow by Jan 25! Thanks to the Town of Castor for moving snow!
